'Music For The Troops'

Program to send music from home to active-duty personnel

Our sources tell us that Westerleigh musician, Guy Michetti, and music producer, Henry Falco, have joined forces to support a program they've named "Music For The Troops." The program seeks to provide compact discs, compact-disc players, Ipods and batteries to active-duty personnel. The music may be composed of works by original artists or a compilation of personal favorites. "It's the least we can do for these men and women far from home," says Falco, owner of Moon Studios, Rosebank. They have also been joined by local band Vital Point . Pianist Anthony Ruocco said "I think this is a great idea. Count me in!"

Guy Michetti

Falco has worked with many local artists in his "moonscape-themed" studio. We have learned that he produced Guy Michetti's first compact disc, "I'm Coming Home," which quickly became a favorite with service men and women worldwide. Michetti has already donated 20 compact discs. He is working with Falco on a second CD titled "A New York City Life," which will be released in the fall. Vital Point has also completed recording their new CD "Between the Lines" at Moon Studios with Falco. Vital Point's CD release party (with free CD giveaways) is this Saturday May 22 at Mug Shots at 3785 Victory Blvd on Staten Island. See Vital Point's web site for details

"It only takes us a little time to ship out a box, but getting a package with music from back home will make a big difference for a lonely service person far from home," says Michetti. Falco and Michetti are hoping for a big response from local singers and songwriters on Staten Island. They believe the program presents an opportunity for musicians to showcase their talent to a very grateful audience. All types of music are needed.

"If you can't decide on a CD, pick up a fresh copy of your own favorite disc and send it in," Falco recommends. A personal message attached to the compact disc or player would also be a great idea. Falco and Michetti will provide the postage and arrange shipping. Items to be donated can be dropped off at Moon Studios, 1273 Bay St., Rosebank.

For more info go to Guy Michetti's Web Site

Items may be dropped off at the studio on Saturday or on May 29, the following Saturday, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Phone (917) 748-1996 to arrange for other drop-off dates. You can also send your packages directly to: Black Dog Promotions, c/o Music For The Troops, 9920 S. Rural Rd., Suite 108, Tempe, Ariz. 85284.
